Hi, I'm really not to sure how this sight works, but I guess I just put my problem in and hopefully someone will respond with advice?! Anyways about a year ago I was at work and all of the sudden out of the blue I got a weird taste in my mouth, about that same time a little area under my tongue swelled to the point where I could feel it hitting the bottom of my tongue. After I got to the bathroom to look and see what it was I noticed that my right lymph node directly under the right side of my jaw was severly swollen. Everytime in the next month that I ate pretty much anything that made my mouth water the thing under my tongue would swell and as a direct result of that my right lymph node would swell. In about a month and a half later when it seemed that the problem wasn't going to go away without the care of a doctor it just vanished, almost without a trace, the only thing left was just a small white area where it used to swell under my tongue. Without experiencing anymore troubles with the swelling for about a year, I was eating my lunch today and about half-way through I felt like a stinging sensation under the back right of my tongue and almost immediately following that stinging the little area right under the center of my tongue quickly swelled up the exact way as it did before, and being somewhat familiar with it I knew right when I felt that what would follow, yep you guess it my right lymph node got as big as a house. The best way I can describe what the swollen part under my tongue looks like is, a itty-bitty peice of skin sticking straight out with what looks like a little white-looking stone right underneath the tip of it, the stone is about the size of a flea. I saw something on the internet about blocked saliva glands under the tongue by a stone and from what I'm seeing it looks exactly like that could very well be the problem, but if so how could the problem just stop completely for almost a year without any kind of diet change. If someone could give me a little advice it would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and by the way this is definitely a direct result from eating and swallowing food, that is the only time the symptoms are triggered, and sometimes even drinking fluids. And also they seem to subside after 30 minutes all the way up to a couple of hours. Can anybody help me???

My best advice would be for you to see your doctor and have him check and see if you have a stone in your salivary gland. I am not a doctor but have some knowledge about certain medical issues. If the gland is blocked by this stone sometimes while eating, the saliva production can cause it to become irritated, thereby causing the gland to swell. It's probably nothing serious and by your symptoms it sounds like a classic case.

Hi Josh,
I have the exact same problem with my gland. I also extract tiny stones out from underneath my tongue. My doctor told me I need to have that gland removed or live with it. For now I am living with it. I don’t want them to cut on my face and neck. It comes and goes.

hey guys, I really appreciate your responses to my epidimic, they come as quite a relief! I don't like the idea of anyone cutting on my neck either so I guess I'll live with it too. Anyways, thanks a bunch!!-Josh in Tampa!! GO BUCS!!!
