I dyed my hair with a permanent home color. I rinsed it out and grabbed shampoo instead of the color conditioner! Is the hair color already set, or is it possible that the shampoo stripped out the color? I saw more red in the sink after I shampooed when I thought I had rinsed all the dye out. I conditioned heavily afterward. The shampoo I used luckily is gentle and made for color-treated hair, but is it ok to shampoo directly after coloring, or did it totally ruin my color? I've never used this brand or shade, so I don't know exactly how it is supposed to turn out (my hair was already colored to begin with, so the shade chart on the box probably doesn't apply).

When I color my hair at home, I just rinse and then use the conditioner. But, when I have it colored at a salon, they put the color on my dry hair, then they shampoo, so it must be safe to do it !

It turned out pretty good. It's my natural color now, with some red. The red is not very noticeable, but in bright light, I almost look like a redhead. It's strange - it just depends on how the light hits it. Maybe shampooing was a good thing, because I don't want any more red than this. Hopefully, the color will last for awhile because it's a nice shade on me - it also only cost $3.00! :)

Hi...I often color my hair at home, and I make sure to always shampoo afterwards (eventhough the box says not to). I feel like stripping the color makes it look much more natural.
