In Jan I went to dr with lumps in throat/neck area, she sent me to ENT he said no problems. The ultrasound showed enlarged thryoid and several cysts in throat area as well as swollen nodes. Well I just went back to dr and she wants another ultrasound done and ordered bloodwork. Bloodwork came back with elevated white blood cell count, now she wants me to go to general surgeon for biopsy, I am worried, does the white blood count mean it could be cancerous?

Hi . . . I'm also from Orlando and have a posting on this site. Years ago I had bloodwork done that showed ANA wasn't within the proper range . . . which I was told meant I had elevated white blood cells. The explanation for this was that white blood cells are what the body sends to fight off infection, so I suspect it's your immune system at work. I'm going to see another dr. on Tuesday to get another blood workup done. So far every time I'm told nothing to worry about . . . so I hope yours is the same. Good luck.
