Jay,
Hang in there, it's still early days for you. A lot of the burning and stabbing pain could be a sign that the nerves are recovering function - when I was healing my thumb felt on fire and I wanted to put it in a bucket of ice!! This does gradually get better so don't worry about it - worry makes it worse.

Try to relax, get outside on slow easy walks and if your doc allows start some easy physical therapy which'll help your body deal with things - even a massage by a therapist helps the muscles and eases the stabbing pain.

Take care,
W

Just want to wish you well, man. Does your NS think that the pain is just due to the nerves trying to reconnect? Is there any other indication in follow up MRI, xrays, etc, that something is amiss?

I just want to encourage you to hope for the best. Despite the herniations, I do believe that the human body can do incredible things to repair itself. Hopefully the pain will ease up on ya, bud. Take it easy.

Best wishes to you.

Hi Jay, I know its easy for all of us to say "take it easy", but remember we been there ,are there, and pretty much going there, the same road so to speak, today I have differant pains then before, and on other days I forget I even had the surgery, and I am 7 months out, but believe me , I was a basket case the first months,I honestly thought I would not be able to take part in a average life again. and someone wrote try not to worry cuz it makes it worse, Hey they are so right, really try to relax ,dont stress, think back to the first week after surgery, are there any improvments?even small ones indicate your on the healing road, relax those shoulders, thinking of ya, Diana :)

ty all for the replies, i am finding out that ice and repositioning helps alot, we had a snowstorm last week and i had to get rid of my parents snow (there old and i have a worthless brother) and the vibtation from the snowblower about killed me, now i just try to relax, as for impronments after surgery? lol i had no pain before surgery , just a lil tingling , now i'm on fire and i'm feeling quick, short pains all through my body ,but it seems like i'm getting better, its 4pm here and i've taken zero medz today and i feel some pain but mostly burning so i'll reposition or get up and it seems to do away for a while, ty all i'll keep yall posted peace! jay

Hey jaymz
I have never responded to any of your posts, but I've been keeping up with how you are doing and I am so sorry for what you have been going through.
I have not had my surgery yet. I am well on my way and I need to tell ya, I am definately not miss lady luck here  .
I hope how soon you start to feel better. To know the pain you where in before surgery and to hear how you are doing now is even worse. I have spinal cord stenosis and I am 32. I have let this problem go to the point that I have no choice. I have had PT, neck injections etc. You name it I have had it with no fix.
So I wish you the best and hope you recover soon.
Nikki E.

:nono: Jay
You did WHAT with a snow blower. No wonder you're hurting and have been feeling bad. Slow down, get the other lazy men in the family to do some work. Your body has to heal, you've had too many problems to do something stupid and make things worse.
Glad to hear that in spite of that you're turning the corner and feeling better. You'll continue to feel better if you behave and take it slowly.
Peace,
W
