I have been posting in another thread about my symptoms (seeing GI doc have questions) so I won't get all into it here, but I do have a question which I could really use some help on. I can't find any site that will say how many bowel movements a day is too many. I have been through all kinds of tests and nothing seems to be showing up as wrong, and yet I continue to have as many as 7-10 bowel movements in a day, along with gas and pain in my lower left abdomen. My colonoscopy showed nothing, bloodwork is all normal, upper GI normal, etc...but going from one a day to this many a day, without being able to identify any cause, seems strange and worrisome to me. Is there a point at which it is something to worry about?

If you have gone through all of the appropriate tests and they are all negative, this usually indicates IBS. Are you taking any kind of medication to help slow down your gut motility, immodium, anti-spasmotics ?? Did your doctor give you any options for medications, foods to eat? Did he officially diagnose you with IBS?

I don't have any diagnosis yet, my follow up with the doctor isn't until April. They have mentioned IBS as a possibility. No dietary recommendations yet, though for a while they said to increase fiber but then I had to cut it back after the colonoscopy. Thanks for the reply!
