I was first diagnosed with hodgkin's 10 years ago and had 8 months of chemotherapy and one month radiation; I was in remission for nine years. I was diagnosed again a year ago and had a stem cell transplant, hit remission for another year, and then diagnosed two weeks ago again where I am beginning another six months of chemo. Has anyone else had a reoccurance like this, even with the great remission rate that hodgkin's has?

I myself have had it twice in the past 8 yrs. Not sure if it was completely gone after the first 6 mths of chemo 8 yrs ago. It was back 1-1/2 yrs ago so I went in and had a stem cell transplant at the Fred Hutch. Next week I go for a follow up. Not sure how it well go. My understanding is sometimes Hodgkin's can be pretty stubborn. Hope all goes well on this set for you.

well, I can relate... I was diagnosed at 20 with HD, after 6 months of chemo- I was in remission. 3 Yrs later, it came back just in my neck. Had stem-cell transplant. Was told it would 'cure' it. Well, one year ago, I am now 27 yrs old, it came back for the 3rd time. It is really wearing on me, and I feel 'haunted' by it! The last time it came back I had radiation treatment.
Just 4 days ago, I have felt many small nodes in my groin on both sides. I am petrified. Am I going to die??? We shouldn't have to think about mortality in our 20's....
Just wanted to relate to you... hope to hear from you!

I don't think anyone should have to think about mortality before 50. Sometimes the treatment is worse then the problem. I trip out if something doesn't feel right or I'm tired. It is on my mind alot. Lost my mum to cancer when I was 13. She was 31. Thats my age. Try and find someone who you can talk to. It helps. Hope all goes good on your end. I know the feeling to worry.

Hi, thanks for replying to my comments. I know, I have to stay positive! But it is hard sometimes... I just have to be happy for the other good things going on in my life, and pray that this works out too! I am going in for a ct scan today, get results Thursday. Will write again then, with hopefully good news!
