If you are going through menopause or have had a hysterectomy dryness can be caused by hormone levels being too low.
Other causes could be yeast infection or bacterial infection. I would suggest asking your Dr. if it persists.

Hiya Ladies,

I am not a medical doctor, I only share information which I have found in the course of helping others

Just a little information which I hope might help you to reach a diagnosis.

Vaginal Itching.

Often it will be put down as ‘just another attack of thrush’ and anti-thrush creams may be used to relieve the discomfort.

Although thrush — a yeast infection called Candida — is certainly a common cause of this problem, there are many other reasons why intense itching may occur in the vulval area. Stress and anxiety can produce many different symptoms, including vulval itching.

Various skin problems may be responsible for the itch. The most important of these is a condition called lichen sclerosis (kraurosis vulvae when affecting the vulva). This can occur at any age, including children, but is most common in women who are past the menopause.

In lichen sclerosis there is inflammation, with redness of the skin, which may have white areas of thickening and sometimes a purplish bruised appearance. As well as intense itching, the affected woman may experience pain when passing urine, discomfort during intercourse and notice tiny fissures (cracks) in the skin.

Lichen sclerosis is usually treated by applying strong steroid creams to the affected area. This may have to be continued for up to 3 months.

Other causes of itchiness

Other skin problems to cause itching in this region include dermatitis due to allergies or contact with irritating substances. A wide range of things may be responsible. Of particular importance are perfumed soaps and vaginal deodorants.

Apart from thrush, which is often worse just before a period or after intercourse, other vaginal infections can also cause itching. Some degree of discharge from the vagina is often a clue that infection is present.

I have fibro but fortunately for me do not have this problem, I cannot obviously say whether or not it is symptomatic of fibro. From the information given above, I would not think it points to it one way or another. Just my ideas.

Hope this helps you.

Hi ladies, I was just reading up on "Candida" and it sounds very interesting. There is a website on line that shows how to do some kind of "Saliva" test to tell if you have it or not. It looks very popular in people with Fibromyalgia.
They say that only homeopathic or naturalist doctors will treat this.
Take care

Once you get the yeast infection cleared, keep a coating of the anti-fungal medication on skin at all time and into portal entries. Use combination anti-fungal med and Crisco if you have a dryness problems. The light coating of med all the time will pevent yeast from transferring from one portal to the other. I have been the world's yeast queen for many, many years and finally found the above solution and now enjoy not having infections. Better to prevent than to try and cure. I use Nystatin with great success. It is a prescription.

often, too much sugar. for instance, I drink a Lot of sweetened tea daily as it keeps my weight down. IF I do not put some water in it first, I get itchy.
Soon as I put water in my next glass of tea the itch goes away. I don't have to put Much water ; just a little bit. If I mess up and 4get the water part,
and I itch a lot, I buy the anti yeast medication, use it, then I'm more careful. But right after using the medication, if I drink a lot of sweetened tea without the water in it the itch starts in again. that is why I'm not depending on the medication; imagine using it several times a month. at any rate, my body is very sensitive to too much sugar. Makes my breasts itch if I eat a lot of krispy kremes; I've totally given them up. they make me gain weight very quickly.
