What could cause your temperature to run between 96.4 and 97.8? That is what mine has been for the last year. Before I was running 98.7 to 99.0..The doc said Crohn's disease could give you a slight temp. So what is going on. Sometimes (I can't get rid of a sinus thing) it goes up to 98.8 -- so does that mean I have a fever since my "normal" temp has been in the 96/97 range. My PCP's nurse practioner just said it's nothing - no tests, just nothing. I read somewhere it could be a sign of cancer. I am also cold most of the time and then I break out in a sweat ----- not hot flashes.
Any input would help. Thanks.

I have this too. Have been curious why.
My normal body temp is around 97.5, and I often feel like I have a fever but no temperature. Sometimes it goes up to 98.1 when I feel like I have a fever.
I also have the "hot flashes" thing. If I didnt know better, I'd swear I was going through menopause. Too bad I am only 32. LOL

I remember the good ole days when my mother use to make me go to school, even though I felt terrible, because I was never running a fever. I had a hard time convincing the school nurse when I needed to go home too. I suppose I've always had a low temperature. If it goes up to 99 degrees, then I know I'm running a fever because that's high for my body. I range from 96-97 and occassionally 98. I'm pregnant right now and my temp still usually doesnt rise over 97. I have low blood pressure too though. Sometimes my mother would ask me if I was still even living. Maybe that has something to do with it. I wouldn't be worried about the chance though. You can always ask your dr, but I have a feeling he won't be too concerned as long as it doesn't exceed the normal limit for everyone.

Jeez, I read this post, and thought, EXACTLY what I have. Only my temp right now is running at about 96.7. Sometimes I feel like I have a fever, but never do. And I get hot flashes once in a while, and my face is all red. I'm a guy, so I guess it's not menopause!

Low body temperature can be one symptom of hypothyroidism.

My husband has had low body temperature for YEARS! Whenever he goes to donate blood, they always take his temp and it's about 96.5 and they always ask him if he's sure he's alive. He's always complaining of being cold too. I think some people are just like that. "Normal" isn't necessarily "normal" for everyone. A simple blood test can detect thyroid problems, so if that's been ruled out, I'd say it's just the way you are. When my husband's temp gets up to 98.6 (normal) he is sick!

But I've also heard that you would have low blood pressure as well? My body temps are too low, but my pressure is high..

dtjobrien, I have not heard that blood pressure is low in hypothyroidism. I suggest having a thyroid panel done, it is blood testing. Specifically ask that the Free T3, Free T4 (besides the T3 and T4) and thyroid antibody tests be included with the other tests normally done. These are not usually included and are necessary for a comprehensive view of your thyroid.
Realize that normal results are not normal for everyone. You can still have a thyroid disorder with normal range results. Get copies of your results and post them at the thyroid board at this site. The people there are great and can help you interpret them.

I have the problem but my doctors are clueless. My temperature ususally comes in at around 90 - 93 Ferenhight. Which is VERY low. I can't understand it and I've taken every blood test in the world. I'm only 17 so that might have something to do with it. I'm a normal kid though.
