Hello... I am concerned that I have some sort of Cancer, and would like to describe my symptoms to you.
I am a 21 year old male, I have smoked since about the age of 15, but quit completely about 5 months ago (in April).
The reason I quit in the first place was because I was getting sharp pains running down the back of my throat and this scared me a great deal. These pains went away shortly after me quitting, but I noticed even months later that there was a large lump just underneath my RIGHT jawbone. Im fairly sure that this used to go up and down in size, but now it definately remains the same size all the time.
Over the past couple of months, I have now discovered a medium sized lump on the back of my neck, two tiny but hard lumps in the center of my jaw, and 2 more tiny lumps adjecent to the original lump. The glands on my LEFT jawbone also feel strangely lumpy to the touch.
Not only all this, but over the past month or more I have been feeling absolutely awful, very nauseous and as if im going to be sick. I have been taking One-A-Day vitamin tablets daily, and I feel slightly better half an hour to an hour after taking one.
I havent just ignored all this, I have been to see at least 3 different GP's on this matter, the final one referred me to an Otolaryngologist at a hospital who I have since seen twice. Both times he has felt all over my neck and assured me that there is nothing to worry about at all, and that I probably just have some kind of throat infection or similar problem.
However, Im still unsure of this diagnosis. Things are still bad, and if anything - only getting worse.
I suppose firstly I would like to ask, do these sound like the symptoms of a type of cancer? And also, do you think I should ask to be examined for cancer despite what the Otolaryngologist has said?
Thankyou for taking the time to read this and (hopefully) replying.
Simon.

Well, there's no definite way to know what may be wrong with you until you have specific tests done by your doctor or etc. A great amount of conditions can cause those symptoms you're describing.
I've had my lymphnodes swollen for over 3 years, and just recently I've been feeling sick. Lower back pains, muscle aches, sharp pains to the heart area, and etc. All the doctors I've been to tell me not to worry about it. Noone seems to actually take that extra step to find out what may be wrong. It's very frustrating.
I'm going in for another CT scan soon. Hopefully that'll help me understand it better.
Has the doctor performed any kind of tests on you?.
Such as a complete blood count, CT scan, etc?
If you are feeling sick for a prolonged period of time and are worried, you should definitely get a biopsy done. That'll help you know for sure what is causing the swollen lymphnodes..
I hope all goes well, and tell me how it goes.. =)

enyceexdanny,
Thanks for replying, It means alot. I had a Biopsy done on the largest node and the results came back saying everything is fine. Im still worried though, not about cancer now - but whatever it is that is causing the swolen nodes.
Please read the new post that I started in the 'Open to All Topics' section:

Did you have surgical biopsy?
It's great that everything went fine with the node. =)
Try not to worry about it too much.
There are just too many conditions out there, big and small - it's not fair to assume that it may be something bad.
It's proven that stressing too much actually makes your body feel worse. Sometimes, stress can make you sick physically.
From what I've heard, some people just have shotty nodes. =) I hope you and I are one of 'em.
