What vitamins do you all take? Supplement wise, I mean.

I've heard too many Vitamic C supplements on their own (500mg) can be bad and damaging. Anyone know if this is true? I think it was one study that was done. I'd link it, but I don't think we can. Just do an internet search.

Anyway, what vitamins do you take daily; what brand?

in the AM:

-cod liver oil
-Vitamin A
-Vitamin E
-Selenium
-Manganese
-Potassium
-Choline
-Ginko
-Florasil
-Primrose

Throughout the day with meals:
-Flax
-CLA
-Salmon oil

PM:
-Calcium
-Vitamin D
-All B Vitamins except for B5 when I eat meat and B3 (i get enough in my food and I react with a niacin flush but it is possible to get B# that will not produce it)
-Boron
-Vitamin C
-Folic Acid
-Primrose
-Ginko
-Echinacea (sp?)
-Magnesium
-Iron
-Copper
-Florasil

____
I modify my consumption of the vitamins depending upon the food I eat during the day.
i don't really pay attention to the brands, I look at the nutritional label and base it on that. Usually you can find a less expenisve generic brand with the same potency. however, organic vitamins are much better for you (and probably way more expensive) but if you can afford it, its the way to go.

I take Omega 3 oil and a high quality multi vitamin during breakfast.
I might start to spread out the omega to one soft gel per meal instead of 3 for breakfast. Not sure if that would benefit me any better.

Sometimes I take Alpha-Lipoic Acid

I am thinking about taking calcium/mag. supplements.

I really feel these vitamins helped me greatly.
Before I started taking them I always felt tired and woke up alot during the night. Though I am not completely "cured" I have noticed a difference.

I really need to work on what I eat during the day since I don't eat the best in terms of nutrition.

Hey Thehappyman,

Vitamin B3 is already in the Vitamin B complex. Any excess vitamins that you take in doesn't get absorbed in your system for some vitamins. For others, too much is dangerous for your health if you take it for a long period of time.

you are taking too much of some vitamins on your list.

Anyway, a good multi is a healthy choice actually.

Summer Girl - I realize there may be duplications of some of the vitamins I take..... I know, for example, that there is some B Complex in the Dandelion extract I take.... But that amount of that B complex is nowhere near what is in the "dedicated" B Complex supplement...... The last thing I would want is to take any one vitamin to excess........ Especially vitamin A and vitamin E.. those are ones that can cause harm in excess...... Thats why I dont take a multi-vitamin...

It's the BALANCE that counts......

I agree without a doubt. Way too much! Not necessary!
