More than 7 mos ago i started having a
burning urine and some discharge. I went
to the DR, and i was diagnosed with
prostitis. I was put on antibiotics, but
it has never completely cleared up. After
taking a 2nd refill of antibiotics, i still
have a slight burning sensation when i urinate. I have stopped asking my Dr for more
antibiotics because i dont think it will
do any good. What danger of cancer do i have
if the prostitis never gets cleared up. PS-
I dont have any other symptoms, other than
a slight burning when i urinate.

GF,
From all that I have read prostititis cannot cause prostate cancer. The actual cause of PCa is not known. There is some evidence that diet, and heridity are causes, but nothing has been proven. Is the doctor you've been seeing a urologist or primary care physician? If you've been seeing a PCP I would suggest you see a urologist. Have you been tested for PCa? It is a simple blood test and digital rectal exam, which again I would recommend having done by a urologist. They have a more educated or fine tuned finger for discovering abnormalities.

There are no definite symptoms for PCa unless it has reached an advanced stage. The symptoms for prostititis and PCa are quite similar, i.e. pain while urinating, slow stream, getting up during the night to urinate.
