Hi, about 2 years ago i started straightening my hair, i had naturally straight hair anyways, but my friends were doing it and i decided to do it too. I first used an iron, then upgraded to a cheap straightener, and now a ceramic straightener. My hair is so badly damaged,... i don't know what to do! Please help me, i need some ideas for products that i should use that actually HELP. I spent so much money on so much useless crap! Okay, i have thin long hair BUT its dry, brittle, has major split ends,frizzy.. everything! It even looks like its growing out brittle/frizzy/dry! I dont straighten the top of my hair though. I wash my hair every day (because my hair gets greasy VERY easily..unfortunately) and blow dry it, then straighten it. I cannot air dry it or it will be even worse(if thats possible) than it already is. I've been reading a lot of posts and replies, and a lot of people said Biosilk and Sleek Look from Matrix.. does this really work? Or is there no hope for me? Oh and i know i shouldnt be straightening my hair every day but thats all that helps! but it just calms it down.. but its a wreck! :( Please help me!! I just want smooth healthy hair:(

Thumbelina

Hey
I unfortunetly dont have any advise because Im in the same exact situation! I have tried it all, too. All the expensive shampoos & conditioners, the creams, sprays, the 'glossers', you name it Ive tried it... What makes it worse on my hair is that I have water from a well, not public city water. Well water (at least mine) is sooooo hard and loaded with minerals. It even turns my hair orange (from the iron). I have found a product called Ion Crystals that gets the orange out, but nothing helps with the frizz & (MAJOR) split ends. Hopefully someone out there can help you (and me, too!!)
Good Luck!

Hey, thanks anyways! and sashaannm my friend had the exact same problem, they get their water from a well and it turned her hair orange but it was because of the certain stuff that was in the dye or highlights or something.
Well thanks anyways.. i hope more people reply in comfort of any bit of hope for me! :(

I have naturally curly hair and it can get really frizzy if I do not use any products on it. I did recently buy the sleek look cream from Matrix. It is in an orange bottle. It works really well. You only need a little or it will weigh your hair down and make it look greasy. I also use the Paul Mitchell smoothing serum and a finishing cream when I am done doing my hair. It helps alot. Also, another good product for dry hair is a deep penetrating conditioner by Joico. They have a couple of them but they do have one that is supposed to repair the hair. It is great!

Good Luck.

Before going out and buying lots of styling products you need to get a really good hair cut to get rid of all the split ends. If you have to use a straightener everyday it's best to get a trim every 4-6 weeks to keep on top of the split ends and to minimize all the heat damage. No product is going to actually repair a split or broken hair. A lot of the styling lines now have "heat protection" sprays and creams you can use prior to using the straightening irons. Lee Stafford has a straightening protectoin spray that a lot of my friends swear by (it comes in a hot pink bottle).

Take care and best of luck to you!

Hope I didn't scare you! When I talked about getting a good hair cut I didn't mean chopping off like 4 inches of your hair. I just meant getting a stylist to get rid of all the broken hair. Your hair won't start to look healthy until all of that is gone.

Take care and have fun!

Hi Thumbelina,

I just posted somewhere else about this. I have thin hair, too, and it's very fragile but I've been using a flat iron every day without any major damage. First of all, Tigger Girl is right . . . you definitely need to get a good haircut. My hair was just below my shoulders and I got it cut to just above. Best thing I ever did! It's already grown back to my shoulders and looks 100% better. I use TIGI Self Absorbed shampoo and conditioner and TIGI Fashonista thermal protector. This is the most important, thing, though. I don't blow dry and straighten. I've started washing my hair the night before (I have oily hair, too, that needs to be washed every day, but it looks fine through the next day) and letting it air dry. Then I straighten it all in the morning. My stylist said that straightening every day is ok as long as you don't get obsessive about having every single strand perfectly straight. Where alot of people get into trouble is when they keep going over a section of hair several times trying to get it perfect. I just do each section once (I pull the top part of my hair up in a clip and do the bottom layer first so that everything lays straight) unless I have a major cowlick or something, and then I let it go. Then I use a little TIGI After Party finishing cream to take care of any fly aways or frizzies.

Good luck, and definitely start by getting a really good cut!
