I posted an experience I had a couple of days ago in the anxiety forum; look for the thread titled; Is This An Anxiety Experience? Help. If some of you would please go there and read it and give me your opinions on what you all think it could of been. Being that I have fm, and you all do to. I was woundering if anyone has had anything like that happen to them after drinking a little bit of alcohol. I did not even drink that much, thats what sucks about it.

Hi again JJ,

I'm going to post your reply here on the FM board cuz I imagine you will look here for the reply.

This is just my opinion, remember, okay? You said you drank some alcohol? What meds are you on? There are many many meds out there that will have a severe reaction to even the smallest mixture of alcohol. Especially if you have low blood pressure to begin with. Alcohol is a depressent, so if you have low blood pressure and are on any type of anti-depressents, like a lot of us Fibro's are, you mixed a deadly cocktail there. Even tho it was just a small amount. It doesn't take much, and people vary in their reaction to their meds and alcohol.

So, I wouldn't worry about it, unless you are still having repeating symptoms, but as far as alcohol and FM, they don't make good dancing partners! When we get FM, a lot of our life style changes, it has to, particularily if we are on medication. So, I'd say, do what your doc says as far as treating your FM, keep yourself healthy, and alcohol is a "no no" for you. Sorry. Just my opinion. I'm not saying that people with FM don't ever drink alcohol, but like I said, everyone is different. I will on ocassion, like at the holidays, have maybe a whole glass of red wine, which takes me over an hour to drink, but I don't take any anti-D's and my blood pressure isn't low. So, if you had a bad experience with alcohol, I believe it's not meant for you to drink. Please take care of yourself.

Hope this helps,
tk

P.S. I've been reading some of your posts and in some of them you sound pretty desperate. Since you are fairly new to all this FM "stuff", please don't panic. Come here and read our stories. Everyone's FM is different. A lot of docs may treat our condition the same as the next FM patient ( I know mine did ) and that's just wrong IMO, we are all different and FM is our personal, as BLL called it "shadow". And the poster who replied to you on the Anxiety board about FM being an autoimmune condition, it isn't documented as being so, but I know that a lot of folks who get your average cold seem to take a longer time to get over it. But, no, it isn't considered to be an auto immune condition, say like Lupus or CFS. But when you have an average every day cold and it seems to be lasting for a month, it doesn't seem that way to us Fibromites!

Have a good day, and take it one day at a time, come here to the boards, share and learn a lot!

Im not on any medication, im scared to take anything because of the side effects that I experience. What type of medication do you take for your fm. My doctor told me to take some motrin, that there was nothing else he could do for me. I did take motrin and it did not do anything for me. what kind of doctor do you see.
