Hi --

My 80-year-old father was just dx-d w/prostate cancer. All I know is that it is a fast-growing form and that his PSA is 11.6. They are recommending radiation treatments.

Can anyone shed light on this for me? Honesty is fine.
Thank you.

This is a very good site for you to read about cancer in an 80 year old man. How they treat it. How long he would live without any treatment etc. Hope it helps. Good luck.

Thanks so much for the link -- I will try it.

I spoke with him last night and the bad news gets worse. Stage III. They're going straight to hormone therapy. How could they have let it get out of control like this? They've been testing him every 3 months. Shouldn't someone have ordered a biopsy sooner?
