On the 8th Feb 2005 I was diagnosed by one doctor as having Hand Foot and Mouth disease, I am 37 yrs of age and male. The diagnosis I guess came from the spots that had appeared on the palm of my hands and between the fingers and also on my feet. I was given 2 weeks sick from work. After 2 weeks it still had not cleared up my spots now blistering a little bit with slight weeping and was given a further week off work. 2 and a half weeks it started to clear up. After 3 weeks it had completely gone all that remained was flakiness of the skin (much like peeling skin when sunburnt). However today 5 weeks after first diagnosis the spots returned between the fingers much the same as they did on the first week. I returned to the doctor (a different GP) and without much hesitation he said Escema. But I am confused I told him as the condition is much the same as before. With which he was silent and I felt my questions were not getting answered. Is there any clear distinction between Escema and HFMD. I have seen images of HFMD and scabies on the internet and my condition does not look like those I viewed. Also is there a sure fire way I can do some kind of test to identify exactly what it is I have got. My mouth seems ok ,no spots inside cheeks or gums but there is one on my lower lip.The horrible itching I had during first 2 weeks has not returned just the spots. And there is one on my left hand that looks like it could turn into a blister. If images of my condition helps at all let me know and I will create a webpage and paste in the URL.
