View Full Version : Should I go to the Emergency Room?

I haven't yet been diagnosed with adrenal insufficiency, and actually, I have an appointment with a naturopath tomorrow, who is going to run a whole bunch of tests. For two days now, I have had constant low blood sugar, even though I am eating, very low blood pressure, dizziness, nausea, no appetite, and slight tremors, due to the low blood sugar. Or, at least I think the tremors are caused by that. I had constant severe low blood sugar episodes in the past, and each time, tremors were part of that. Anyway, I have a constant feeling of faintness. This has happened before, but not to this extent. Should I wait it out and rest, or should I go to the Emergency Room? Does this sound dangerous to anyone? By the way, the onset of this set of symptoms was preceded by extreme emotional stress.

Thanks,
Katalina

I don't know anything about blood sugars but if you are feeling faint, I would go to the ER. They will, at least, stabilize you. Maybe they will find something out that will be helpful. And you probably could use fluids. Don't forget to mention that adrenal insufficiency is suspected, it will give them an idea of what to look at beside blood sugars. I hope you feel better.

Katalina,

I don't know if this info will be helpful to you or not, but one of the main symptoms of my adrenal fatigue is hypoglycemia (shaking, sweating, faintness, racing heart).

My hypoglycemic symptoms started about 15 years ago with infrequent attacks. It gradually worsened over the years to where about 3-4 months ago, I felt as if I was in a constant state of low blood sugar. Nothing I ate seemed to help; in fact, everything I ate usually made me feel worse. I started having a lot of anxiety about eating because I was sort of "damned if I did, damned if I didn't". In other words, I felt like I needed to eat because my blood sugar was low, but then the eating just made me feel just as bad. It was awful.

I started taking adrenal glandulars about 2 weeks ago and took them up until last Friday when I began Isocort. They have been my saving grace. The hypoglycemia was very much improved with the glandulars, and now it almost completely gone in the three days I have been on the Isocort. My body still has this tendency to feel hypoglycemic in the early afternoons (my worst times), but if I start feeling the beginnings of problems , I just take an extra Isocort, and within 10-20 minutes, the slight hypoglycemic symptoms are gone.

It has been such a relief not to feel like I need to eat all the time. That was one thing that was so frustrating about the doctors I saw before. All they would say is, "Eat small, frequent meals to keep your blood sugar stable." I just kept thinking that whole time, "Eating like this is not normal." I didn't want to have to eat if I wasn't hungry!

It seems like the adrenals and the Isocort have increased my appetite. When I'm hungry, I'm HUNGRY!!! But no more eating because "I have to". I am just praying that the Isocort continues to work!!!!!

Anyway, I hope this might help!

Christy
