Alright so back in high school I dyed my hair every color from white blonde to black. And many times back and forth. Needless to say my hair was ALWAYS dry, brittle, and even broke off in chunks twice! Now, in my twenties I have grown my hair out very long, and undyed. It feels amazing. It's strong and shiny. I love it when I wear it straight but the problem I'm having is that when I want to style it, the style lasts 10 minutes and then it goes back straight. I NEVER had this problem with dyed hair. It would stay big and curly all day if I wanted it to. My hair dresser said it's just healthy, so it's silky and slips out of a style. GRR. I'm wondering if there are any of you girls out there with natural hair who have found a solution to this problem? Hairspray doesn't seem to help no matter how much I use. Maybe someone can suggest a more expensive product for styling? I would just like to be able to have curly hair once in a while for more than 10 minutes. And to have some body back in my hair would be great. Back-combing doesn't even work! Haha. Has anyone else had this problem? Maybe it's also because long hair is heavy, I don't know.

Much appretiated to any replies.

Maybe part of the problem is the length. You said that your grew it out very long, so maybe the extra weight is pulling the curl out.
