Hi there.
I'm only 19 years old and I have read that prostate cancer should only happen past the age of 40, but I wish to be safe rather than find out when it's too late.
About a couple of years ago, I saw this advertisement on television showing a fountain. This shape of the fountain was of a little kid, with the water coming out of the kid's penis as if to show him/it urinating. However the water coming out was "interrupted" many times during the water flow. Anyway, the advertisement ended by saying that this, (being the interruptions while urinating)was one the earliest signs of prostate cancer, with nothing else being said.
Obviously this concerned me because I seem to recall this happening during my urination process, but I am not sure whether it was related to prostate cancer. Sometimes when I urinate, the flow stops but I know there is still some urine to be excreted, so I apply some force in order to discharge it. I may have to do this several times per visit to the toilet in order to feel that I have gotten rid of all the urine. My question is whether my urinary behaviour is one of these signs of prostate cancer?
Also after I urinate, and after walking around or sitting down, I feel that very small amounts of urine still coming out. I find this very odd because I make sure that my penis does not have any urine left in it. I'm not sure whether this is related but could someone tell me why this happens? This is also concerning me because I have to leave toilet paper there for a while to soak it up until I feel that there is no more urine coming out as I do not like walking around smelling like urine.
If anyone could help me with my questions, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time.

Although prostate cancer can theoretically occur at any age, I've never heard of anyone your age having it. Your problems most likely rest with some other cause. (Maybe prostitus or an infection) You should see your family doctor for a physical exam.

infection, urethral strictures, or use of ephedrine or ephedrine-like stimualants can do this. Do ou drink caffein, take asthma meds or take anti-depressants?

What you're describing is basically normal and is fairly common among men. Many guys have urethras that retain some urine in the back of the penis. my brother has this problem, he always gets some urine in his underwear after he pees, but his prostate is fine.

The best way to overcome this problem is (after you pee) to massage the base of the penis at the perineum, which is between the anus and testicles. Most of the excess urine should quickly squirt out this way.

If this condition becomes truly unbearable, you might want to see a doctor, but otherwise it's a nuisance that you just have to deal with and is nothing to worry about.
