Hi everyone. Well this started about 6 months ago. My ear was totally blocked and I couldn't hear out of it properly and also my throat on the right side (same side as my ear) hurt me when I swallowed. Well eventually my ear got better and then my throat pain went away. Unfortunately, my throat pain keeps coming back. When it happens, its always on that same side and the pain travels to my ear. Sometimes it goes away and I think its gone for good but then it comes back again. A couple of weeks ago, all of my throat felt really sore so I plucked up the courage to see the doctor and he told me I had an infection and prescribed me a weeks worth of antibiotics (amoxycillin). My sore throat cleared up but unfortunately I've still got that pain when I swallow on my right side and the ear ache. I'm convinced I've got throat cancer. Its making me so depressed. I can't sleep or concentrate on anything with the worry. Also, there is sometimes this feeling like I've got something at the back of my throat but not all the time. My health in general seems to be ok although sometimes I have heartburn (acid comes into my mouth). I'm not coughing up blood or losing weight or anything but I'm out of my mind with worry. I've got another appointment with the doc on Wednesday but any ideas from you would be appreciated. Thankyou.

This is just a possibility as I can relate to some of it. If everything else has checked out, it may be a TMJ problem. A feeling of something in the throat can be a muscle spasm caused by the clenching, and the clenching gets worse with anxiety as you have had. The throat problems can also be caused by LPR and since you have heartburn that is a possibility as well. I found that xanax helped relieve the anxiety while i figured out what was wrong. (and i hate to take any drugs) Mine seems to be a combination of LPR AND tmj started by some dental work... Good luck sorting it out.

You probably just need a stronger antibiotic the first didn't work. :)
