Hello,

Not sure which topic to post this under since I am not sure where exactly is my problem located, but here is the short. I have been having alot of pain on my right side, where it hurts to the right of my bellybutton and on my back, same location. It feels like the pain is "inside me" somwhere but I cannot figure out exactly where. I do know that it is uncomfortable all the time, unless I am sleeping on lying down and it gets progressively worse when I am standing or walking. I have had a CT Scan with no results and had an Endoscopy which I was given Nexium. I do not think it's a Stomach issue, and not even sure what Doctor to see now. My primary Doc refers me back to the GAstro but not sure if that is the right route to take. All I know is it hurts like crazy and not sure what to do. Anyone ever have this problem? If so please let me know. I have gone through the possibilitites, gallstones, kidney problem, Celiac, etc.. but I really don't know...

Thanks,

Robert

I've always heard that an inflamed appendix starts out as pain around the belly button, then eventually radiates to the right side, which is where the appendix really is.

Hi Robert !

(I only speak from my own experiences, to possibly help someone.)

Yes ! I have had this problem. I know everybody is different, and
different things work for different people.

Here's how it went with me........,
Back at the first of the year, I started having a nagging pain in my right side,
but sometimes it was knifestabbing pain, and sometimes it didn't localize.
It moved to the pit of my stomach, and into my back.
The main thing was that it would not let up !

I ended up in the ER on a Sunday night. They did blood work, and they
did a CT Scan /w dye. I was told that they found nothing wrong, and sent
home with pain meds.

The next morning I was in my Doctor's office. He went to check my CT Scan from the hospital.
He came back telling me that my CT Scan showed I had an infection in my lower colon.
He said that the Docs in the ER did not read the x-rays, (you might want to
check on this !), and he gave me a strong Antibiotic for seven days.

Well, I did get better as soon as that got into my system, however after the
medicine wore off, the pain came back ! It was mostly in my right side,
lower and up under my ribs on the right side.
My Doctor put me through a bunch of his tests, and then he called in the
GI Doctors. I think I have had every test under the sun.
After having one of those yucky tests one day, I got SO SICK I was doubled over in PAIN ! I knew I was having a gallbladder attack !
Then I heard the guys in the Lab telling the nurses that I was having a gallbladder attack !

I was back in my Doctors office after that, and he said, after all the tests they did, the ONLY thing they found was ' sludge in my gallbladder '.
But, he called in a Surgeon and he poked around on me and said he didn't see anything that warrented surgery ! Yeah ! I didn't want to have surgery,
but I did want to find out what was/is wrong with me !
Since that time, I was on the search on the Net., and I found out that
' ONLY sludge in the gallbladder ', could be a real problem for some folks.

I still have the flair-ups with this pain in my side. And the only thing they
really came up with was that I had IBS. Well, I knew that already.
My Doctor put me on another round of Antibiotic, and Levsin. Levsin is these
little tiny pills that you put under your tongue, to settle your stomach.

I have to say that I am better, and it doesn't seem to matter what I eat,
anymore, except fried foods.

I would strongly advise you to go back to your Doctor, and let him send you to wherever, whatever Doc you need to see.

I hope you find some answers soon, and best of luck to you.........,

I hope you feel better soon !

Gee Gee,

Thanks for the info, very helpful. What you have described was very similar to my situation. Nothing was found and the next step by the GI was exploratory surgury, which I am not ready for. I have an appointment with him tomorrow and I was going to suggest an Abdominal Utrasound to rule out sludge or any stones that were not caught on my original CT Scan. I had 2 scans but only one with the IV Die, don't ask why.. I hope he will set that up, cause the pain is only getting worse. At first is was only after I ate, right side pain and heavy bloating. Now the pain is basically all the time on the right side, not kidney stone pain, which I am all too familar with, but it does hurt. When I stand or walk around it gets worse where after a while I need to sit.

Anyway thanks for the help, and if anyone knows of more info on Gallbladder Sludge I would appreciate it, as I could not find much on the net doing a search and want to bring in some info to the Dr. if he pushes back on that being a possibility and doesn't want to do the ultrasound.

Thanks!

Robert
