View Full Version : Candida overgrowth - can it be diagnosed as Fibromyalgia?

Hello everyone!!! I am very puzzled. The more I read these posts and research my problem which is either fibromyalgia or chronic myofascial pain, I keep on coming up with Candida overgrowth and its effects on our bodies. Has anyone been successful on a candida diet that has actually taken away their aches and pains. I was also reading a web site where a couple swear by going off of "all" sugar for 21 days that it has cured their fibro. Has anyone checked into that or tried it. It seems too easy to be true!!! This is all mind boggling what putting into or not putting into our bodies can work on our joints. There are products out there that are supposed to cure yeast infections and I wonder if anyone has tried any of these with good results. I am not sure if I can say this without the moderator taking the name of it off but there is something out there called "Threelac" for candida infections. Has anyone heard of it?
Thanks

Hi

Thanks Jeremy and April for your thoughts. I never thought of what dropping sugar all together would do to your system!!!
April, what is "yakult" I have never heard of this. Is it some kind of yeast medication?
Thanks, Lyn in Michigan :)

Lyn,
It's very comman to find candida overgrowth in most anyone anymore because of the "typical american diet". It certainly affects the way you feel. I just came back from a clinic that specializes in fibro and the M.D. there said that they have found that most everyone coming in with fibro has an underlying virus or bacteria or both root problem. This is not the info your going to find out from most docs. They took 16 vials of blood from me and are doing some very extensive tests. I should know the results in 2-3 wks. Then they work with your specific problem to help you do better. I think that's why so many people never get better because they never get to the root of the problem. I have taken really good care of myself. I eat organic, eat a low sugar diet, and take great supplements and still I wasn't getting better. i have learned that because we all have fibro symptoms doesn't mean we all have the same thing. That's why I think some people do better than other's. It's a very frustrating experience.

Lord,
My fibro doc told me that docs that do not specialize in fibro, or maybe I should say, that are dedicated to fibro, that they really don't have the time or inclination to have to follow all the research and treatment going on with this. Many of the things they do at the clinic I'm going to are none traditional. They have found that people with fibro have deformed mitochondrial. That's the part of the cell that's your battery, it gives you your energy. So they do nutritional therapy for that. Also they have found that most people with fibro have impaired thyroid function, specifically to much reverse T3. To much reverse T3 makes you tired. The best way to correct that is with bio-identical hormones. A friend of mine has a cousin who's a pharmacist. She's on traditional thyroid treatment. Her cousin told her that the bio-identical hormone treatment was a superior treatment. She told her doc that, and he refused to give her that saying he was the doc and he knew what worked best not the pharmacist. She's decided to also go to the clinic I went to. She's feed up. I went without proper treatment for yrs. because I didn't know where to go to get good help, and I really didn't want to have to travel a long ways to get treatment. Thank-God Someone gave me a referal to that clinic. I do have a heck of a long ways to go, but I was getting just to sick. I had to do something or give up. IT IS very frustrating not being able to get good medical treatment from your area docs. My heart goes out to everyone struggling with this. This is a very complex disorder and it takes a lot of time and energy to find decent help.

Lyn,
I'm waiting on my blood work to know everything. Meanwhile, I am taking NT Factor for energy. It's for mitochondrial support. They find in people like us that your mitochondrial gets warped and doesn't function well. Since that's where you get your energy from, no wonder we're tired! I've only been on it for a little over a week, but I do feel like I've got a bit more energy. Boy there's nothing cheap about being sick is there?! Your a gem Lyn! Take good care. I'll be around. :)

Lyn,
I originally got it from my fibro doc, but I found it cheaper on the internet. You can do a search for it or go to shopping.com or one of those and find a good price. take care! :)

Lyn,
There there are many things you can do for candida. One of most important is taking a good probiotic, many per/day. You can take grapefruit seed extract. Also, I use whole leaf stevia concentrate to sweeten my drinks. It's also very good for controlling blood sugar.

Lyn,
That's your living good bacteria. Acidophilus is a probiotic. Having healthy gut bacteria is part of a good immune system.

Candida overgrowth can be diagnosed as fibromyalgia, because Candida can cause joint pain, headaches, dizziness, and in increase in allergies to name just a FEW of many, many symptoms. Also, blood sugar can get out of control if you are suffering from systemic candida, and hypoglycemia in itself can cause you to feel very achy, tired, and ill. I personally know of one rheumatologist that strongly believes that Candidiasis often starts out auto-immune disorders, and someone on healthboards mentioned the same thing in a thread the other day. I have found that the best doctor to go to if you believe you have Candidiasis or if you have an illness with no explanation or cause, is either and osteopath or a naturopath. Many of those types of docs (you should always ask first) can order the same tests that regular doctors can, but often explore farther and deeper to find the cause.
