Hello, my boyfriend has been diagnosed with a pilonidal cyst, I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with it, and the different types of surgeries for it, I would appreciate any stories and advice for him , thanks

A pilonidal cyst is not a spinal problem - you might want to try consulting the bowel problem section of healthboards.

Actually a pilonidal cyst is caused by a spinal problem. I don't know a lot about them but my wife had 1 before we met. It has something to do with spinal alignment that can trigger a cyst some time during your lifetime. I know she had surgery on it. I will find out more detail from her and let you know.

I had one when I was 15. The surgeon said I had a tablespoon size hairball in there. The deal was that I had let it go (due to embarassment) until it finally burst. Very ugly scene. Surgery was done and I have had no trouble since (34 yrs later). Not sure what type of surgery was done except that they cleaned it up and then closed it up.
