Can a PMD call in a drug if he is out of state? For example: Can a doctor in Texas call in a prescription for vicoden in Louisiana? Just wondering!

Hi Mom...I'm not positive, but I would think he would be able to do it. The reason I say this, is I was on vacation several years ago and was taking Hydrocodone 10/325 for Shingles I had. We were in New Hampshire and I ran out of my meds, so I went to a pharmacy and they called my pharmacy in Washington and because there was a refill on it, the pharmasist in New Hampshire was able to fill it. As for calling in a new prescription, I'm not sure.

My doctor WAS able to do it. I feel a lot better! Thanks all for the reply. BTW, it was for hydrocodone 10/500, if that makes any difference.
