MY HUSBAND JUST HAD A BIOPSY OF A SPOT ON HIS JAW. DOCTOR SAID IT IS MELONOMA. WE GET RESULTS JULY 30TH. RIGHT NOW WERE BOTH PRETTY NERVOUS AND I WAS ON THE NET SEARCHING FOR INFO ON THIS TOPIC. ANYONE WHOSE BEEN THROUGH IT I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY ADVISE ON WHAT TO EXPECT.

i was scared to death when the doctor called me on the phone 4 days later to tell me my mole on my back was cancer and to see a cancer doctor and surgeon. i went to the hospital and the surgeon made a deep cut where the mole was and also took out my lymph nodes under my arm, my was stage 2 and they are pretty certain that they got it all. i will be on a two year study and checked every three months. good luck you get it early.

I am sorry to hear about your husband but early detection has a high cure rate..I was just wondering what the spot on your husbands jaw loked like..was it black?

My 15 year old daughter's melanoma was white. Very large soft mole. It did not look like the typical melanoma.

my melonoma was was started by a mole that was on my right forearm. they did surgery to remove it and most of my lymph nodes in my right armpit an beneath the pectoral muscle. only one of those nodes were positive for the cancer, i didnt get lucky enough to find out early. i found out when i was having a twitching problem with my right fingers, not very often, it would last about half minute to 2 or 3 minutes and then not again for like a month or so, sometimes twice a week. to make a long story short it was a metastatic melanoma which had metastisised to by brain. over the last three years, i have had two craniotomies, to remove two separate tumors that were both about 2.5,3.5 centimeters. and get this, my tumors were growing and sprouting so fast that the hospital, which has a gammaknife machine, treated 7 more tumors each one in random locations from 5 to 15 mm! And three weeks of whole brain radiation. Today i am still alive, working a full time job, with overtime, taking care of my little three people family and going out every weekend doing whatever for fun. i even had two tumors on my spleen that dissappeared within the time i was having my surgeries. right now i am fighting with my doctor for a higher dosage of the chemo because it looks like i may actually survive.
If anyone thinks their moles or beauty marks arent looking right, "INSIST! that your doctor scrape them for analysis, mine told me my spots didnt look suspicious but when i learned different, it was too late!
