A few months ago I started noticing a few chin hairs! What is happening? Is this normal for my age and no one talks about it?

I asked my dermatologist who does laser hair removal if he could remove the hairs but he said they have to be black and corse - great! Now I need to let them really grow (and let anyone see what has happened to me) before I can permantly remove them. It all seems so hopeless and I feel so old!

Any suggestions out there?!

I was on Natural Progesterone cream a few months ago but to slow down the hair falling out on my head. It helped I must admit. And made me feel wonderful! I stopped because I wanted to be monitired by a MD while on it but still have not found anyone. I just may start it up again.

May I ask how you knew your testosterone levels were the cause of your chin hair's? What type of test(s) confirmed this for you?

Thanks!

The tests arent confirmed but my hair is falling out and i have more chin hair my periods last only 2 days. I have an appointment to see a gyn to test but I cant wait and I might not be able to afford it right now, so I have to do the progest until i can get to the doctor. I feel so bad especially about my hair, i have almost a bald area in the front and nothing is making it grow. I feel like a slug.

I sympathize with you. I seems were in the same boat. Let me know if you want to exchange e-mail addresses so we can update each other on our progess dealing with hair loss and that dreadful chin hair~

From when I understand hormones are hard to test via blood because they are constantly changing in the body. I've heard that saliva tests are more accurate. But haven't done either yet.

When I was using my Natural progesterone cream by Emerita ir really changed my life for the better. My hair shedding slowed down, my irregular periods became regular, my PMS was non existant and I had an overall feeling of peace and happiness with in. And I also felt more aroused. But shouldn't I be feeling this anyway if my supposed tertosterone levels were high? This last part confused me.

Anyway, I am dealing with another health issue right now and once that is behind me, I intend on continuing my search for a MD who understands, believes and treats with Natural Hormones. There are very few in the USA and most of them don't take insurance because they don't have to...women flock to them and pay their high fee's jusy to feel and look better at any cost.

I've been researching this issue for some time now. I swear I could write a book myself. One last note, most doctors do not know anything about Natural hormones because they were not taught this in school and only know what the pharmacutical companies tell them. Pharmacutical companies cannot PATENT naturals, therefore they cannot make money on them, therefore they are not give to doctors and it's a circle of ignorance and greed.

And women loose out bigtime. It's important to be pro-active and never give up the fight to better ourselves.

When I say testosterone levels are high I dont mean they have risen I mean they are high in proportion to the estrogen and progesterone levels that have decreased because of premenopause thats why during this time of life your hair changes, facial hair, and your body changes its shape not because your testosterone is rising but because the other 2 hormones are less now making your body think you have more testosterone. Thats why a dr will give you progesterone and estrogen to bring your body back in line with your younger days.

I've had chin hairs since my mid 20's (I'm 38 now and there are more). I just pluck 'em and don't worry about it.

I'm 28 and started to get them and even more hair on my face overall. I'm even on birth control pills. It is very disturbing..My gyno said 'it's not bad, i've seen worse' Well, when I have better insurance I am dropping the bcp's and getting hormone tests b/c I'm worried there's something more serious wrong. At least i'm blond ;) Oh-has anyone tried that rx Vaniqua?? Very expensive but if it works maybe I'd try it.
