I had my tonsils out about 7 months ago. For a long while afterwards I felt a sharp pain persisting where my right tonsil had been removed, like something sharp was stuck there. Ever since then, I have had daily discomfort on the right side of my throat and it won't go away. I have a large cyst in my neck, I don't know if that could be causing the problem. I also have my lower right wisdom tooth coming through, perhaps that is the source of the discomfort? But when I look down my throat I can see little protrusions sticking up and since I only experience the discomfort while swallowing, I am wondering if they have anything to do with it. An ENT looked down my throat -very briefly- and said nothing was wrong. My doc thinks it is stress related, but I don't see how it can be. Even on days when I am totally not stressed I feel the discomfort and I hate it.. it's there pretty much all the time and it is ruining my life. I can't eat properly because I feel sick and it feels like I have not swallowed it properly....... Can anyone give me advice on what to do?

Im sorry I haven't heard of something like this before, but if an ENT looked at your throat and said nothing was wrong you might try seeking a second opinion. It is possible that it is due to stress because stress can do funny things to the body. Sorry I couldn't really help.

I don't see how stress could cause something like that! Stress will cause a feeling like a LUMP in the throat (in the middle) not sharp pains! I'd go to another doctor, ask for an x-ray or something.
