Hi everyone. I'm new to this particular topic but have a couple of questions. My husband is a healthy 35.5 yr old male, never any health problems. A couple of days ago he started complaining of pain around 3 tiny (and i mean tiny) moles on his neck. He never complains about anything unless its really bothering him. He doesnt like doctors but he's made an appt for this to be checked out. Does this sounds like anything serious? Has anyone ever experienced painful moles? One of the moles looks as if its drying up (for lack of better words). Whats your take on this? Anyones information or advice would be greatly appreciated. Take care :-)

It's good he's getting them checked out. I've always heard that any changes in a mole or suspicious skin changes call for medical attention.

I hope he gets whatever treatment if necessary is called for & a good report from his doctor. It's always better to be safe than sorry!

I suggest that your husband get all 3 moles removed and biopsied. Doctors can't always tell just by looking at something if it is cancerous or not. My dad's melanoma was misdiagnosed by both his GP and dermatologist. And they would not do a biopsy until it was too late, and it had already metastisized to his internal organs. Melanoma is one of the deadliest cancer once it has spread. So always insist on a biopsy. That being said, the chances are that it is not cancer. But better safe than sorry.

Yes, his GP should be able to do it. He will probably just look at the moles at the first appointment, and schedule another appointment for the biopsy. Sometimes you can talk them into doing the biopsy on the spot. I've had moles removed and biobsied, and it only takes about 5 minutes, and is completely painless.
