Kathygerald 03-23-2005, 12:53 PM I am new to the board. My husband and I both take pain medicine, and we would like to know how well the suboxene works for withdrawal. Sponsor mrgrateful 03-23-2005, 01:26 PM Suboxone works very well for wd. If you cant take time off for cold turkey then suboxone is the way to go. I am in my 3rd (?) week, no problems so far, I am tapering according to the Docs plan. Some folks here have said that the sub wd is difficult, but I am sure it will be easier after the taper and with the docs supervision. Good luck to both of you. You will find everyone one here most supportive marich101 03-23-2005, 02:20 PM mrgrateful, Glad you are continuing to do well and please continue to post with updates on your journey with the suboxone. I am so very curious about it, and it seems like people get on it and are doing well and then I don't see them anymore,,,,,,,,,,,,don't know if this is good or bad. (and I am not trying to send anything negative your way) Kathy, I can't offer you any help cause I know NADA but there is a wealth of info on here if you look back at some other posts Marilyn Well that sounded rather short and abrupt but was in a bit of a hurry......let me take the time to welcome you Kathy and wish you, your husband as well as mrgrateful the best. Hi there, I know gazillions of people either looking at Sub to use or already using it. Well, not gazillions but bunches. Anyhoo...this is my take only. Sub is an opiate. It is better used is very small doses 4-6 mgs A DAY for 2 weeks or less. You asked about withdrawing not opiate maintenence. That is why I answer the way I do. I speak with lots of people who have tried w/d on Sub many many ways and it seems as if to get off other opiates, the best way seems to be to use as little as necessary to ward off w/d symptoms and then taper off the sub asap. Now that does not mean you are home free. It is recommended you go to meetings and realize you may still have some bad days but from what I hear, nothing compared to c/t. I am in no way criticizing anyone using this drug for longer periods; but if I ever need to get off my pain meds that is the way I will attempt to use Suboxone/Subutex. SS goddessgrl65 03-24-2005, 06:49 AM hi-and welcome to the board.. sub is an opiate that does NOT get you high-it is used in combo w/. naloxone-so if you use pain meds/heroin etc..it blocks them-its similar to methadone-in that its used for both maitainence/and w/d.. i have been on fairly low dose maitainence-for a while..and have not touched anything. My suggestion is to use this med for short term detox at lowest doses possible and get off them w/in 5 days. It works well depending on what you were using/how much.. There is much controversy these days on sub mait/as opposed to using it strictly short term-depending on length of time of your addiction/habit- its an excellent med-and has helped many get off the drugs. . ggrl |
