my son has a place on his head (he is 18 months) and when we first noticed it, it was raised and yellowish-filled. ped said it was a zanthoma though he has never seen one on the head. well 5 months later i noticed a change. it was now flat and red. he rechecked it and was "confused" but he said that it wasnt suspicious looking and was probably nothing. another doctor saw it when it was still raised and said "i dont know what that is"
well it may not be anything but hey,,,,its on MY childs head...should i get a second ....third opinion? maybe a dermatologist? any advice?
Thanks~Lisa

Insist that they remove it and biopsy it. That is the only way to tell what it is. It is probably nothing serious, but never take that chance with your health or your child's. Better safe than sorry!

I would go to a dermatologist and make sure that they diagnose it or at least rule out what it isn't. It just isn't good enough that the doctors leave it, if they don't know they need to refer you to someone who might.

Good Luck
