I couldn't sleep so I was flipping around here and there and started reading a very interesting article on these two different types of pain (mostly to see what I have) and what the up-to-date treatments are. Do a search on either and you will find both; you should be able to figure out what type of pain you have. I have nociceptive and that is why the patch works so well for me. Unfortunately, where often this kind of pain is temporary, mine doesn't seem to be. You can also find out what meds work best for your type of pain.
