Ok, so I just had my consultation with my dr, I'm having the laser procedure on 3/31. I finally got a chance to ask some questions about what exactly is happening to my body. I have CIN 2 & HPV. She showed me the area that had the precancerous cells. I asked her why I was only having a laser procedure & she said it was because the area she needed to get rid of was so large & the laser is more accurate. Does that sound right? She said she didn't need to do a biopsy because she had already done one (when I had my colonopsy sp?) I'm being put completely under for the procedure which I'm a little nervous about. I can't wait until this is all over!!!!!

Yes that makes sense - i had a leep for the center part and laser for the larger areas on the other parts....laser is good, but you need to monitor closely after as there wont be any parts to biopsy with just a laser. Its less invasive than a leep though.

Colposcopy :) a colonoscopy is getting your colon cleaned out hehe!

I was freaking about going under for weeks, it was nothing at all 3 seconds and I laughed thatI was nervous over nothing :)

Yes, the laser is reported as more accurate than other ablation methods. You must have had biopsies during the colpo, this is how they arrive at a diagnosis of CIN. The Pap can only point in the general direction of LSIL/HSIL, but the biopsies diagnose the presence and grade of CIN.

From what I have read on these boards, all the ladies who chose general anesthesia for their procedures woke up not believing they had just had surgery. I am sure this will be the case with you! In a week you will get rid of those sneaky cells and resume your life.

I will be thinking of you, praying that your procedure is 100% successful!

:)

Thanks everyone for the good thoughts. I'm not nearly as nervous as I was :)
