My 3 year old grandson has been having hives off and on. He has also had ear infections off and on. In order to kill the infection the DR gave him adult strength antibiotic about 3 months ago. This is actually when he first got the hives. He was taken off the antibiotic ASAP but he is still getting hives 3 to 4 times a week.
Do you think they could be caused by the antibiotic yet. Or is he now allergic to something else to bring them on.
He is taking Benadryl everytime he gets them. It helps. Any suggestions.
He has been back to the DR about them and the DR says just to keep taking the Benadryl.

How long ago did they stop the antibiotic? Contrary to popular belief antibiotics actually stay in the system quite awhile. So if the anitibiotic caused them, they could take as long as a month to go away.
