Can I get some advice on quitting Hydrocodone. I have been in 3 car accidents over the last three years and had damage to my neck vertebrae. I really don't
need to take anymore Vicodin, but can't seem to stop the 2-3 I take a day.
I'm also taking Klonapin 2 x 1 mg. for anxiety, but have been on it for about 8 years. It helps me with lead a normal life. How do I step down the Vicodin and how long does it take? I am picking up some SAMe, cause I heard it works. Please help!

Hi, and welcome,
your habit isn't that large so i would start to stabilize on 3 a day, then in 5 days drop down to 2 1/2 a day, then wait 5 days, then drop down to 2 a day...and so on and so forth. This will DRASTICALLY reduce your withdrawal symptoms. I am sure you are aware that this is going to be a mental struggle, between you and your addiction. Fight with all you got.....don't ever up your dosage. Even if you did go cold turkey at this point, it wouldn't be all that bad. Like the flu, stuffy nose, runs, headachey, restless, feverish.....a very mild case of the flu. And over the counter cold medicines and immodiium should take care of the rest of the symptoms. Your klonopin will come in handy too. Don't detox yourself off of those, w/ding from benzos CAN be rough and HAS to be monitored by a doctor.
O.k. i hope i helped some. Feel free to ask as many questions as you want.
luv,
LISA

Lisa thank you, And I've tried this. But occassionally I do need them for
neck pain. I don't want to get them out of the house, but they keep calling to
me when I get bored. I started taking SAMe today to try and clean my liver. Lately I've also been lightheaded almost all the time, even when I'm sleeping.
Are these symptoms? I just want to get rid of the nasty mood I'm always in towards my wife and children. They don't deserve the way I act.
