Hi

I'm 16 y/o. For the past couple of weeks, I've noticed a sore pain on the gums behind my two top front teeth. It almost feels like a piece of popcorn kernel stuck there. I looked in the mirror tonight, and noticed a red, hard bump on my gums. Its about half a centimeter, and it's dark red. It feels very hard and fixed to the gums, and is painful to touch. My mom said not to worry about it.

I had a dentist checkup almost exactly a month ago, and he didn't find anything then. What are the chances of this being oral cancer if it just popped up suddenly? What should I do? I worry a lot and just need some reassurance.

Thank you

VS

The chances of it being an infection are actually much higher. I doubt it could be cancer. I think if it doesn't go away in a few days I would ask your mom to take you to the denist. Sometimes the only thing you need is a course of antibiotics.
