hi, i am a 31 yr old male and lately i have been getting arm pain and chest discomfort at rest, and some pain, but when i exercise on the treadmill, i get no symptoms. i do have mitral valve prolapse. i am wondering if i could have heart disease evn though i get no pain from the trradmill?? any suggestions

Probably not heart disease but it IS possible to have angina at rest that isn't affected by exercise. There are conditions of arterial spasm that can cut down the flow of blood to areas of the heart.
More likely it's a muscle sprain/strain anywhere from the chest through the shoulder, or even a nerve pinch in your spine.
Mention it to your doctor but it doesn;t sound like an emergency.
Take a 325 mg. aspirin ever day til you see him. Actually why not try even MORE than that because it's a good analgesic and anti-inflammatory for any kind of injury you might have.
If it DOES get worse during exercise, see someone immediately.

I'm not really UP on what the consequences of mitral valve prolapse are.
