I had no heartbeat at 10 weeks. ultrasound at 11 weeks confirmed no viable fetus, DNC the next day.
it was devastating not to get a heartbeat but you are so early i've heard that even by ultrasound at seven weeks it could be hard to pick up the heartbeat.

thanks for your response they are going to watch my hormone level until wednesday. if it goes down which they think it will we will schedule an dnc then.did that hurt and how long does it take to recover from that. do you have any kids after having the dnc. i already have 2.but i plan to have more thanks.

yeah, you can have kids, dncs are perfectly safe (well not 100%, but nearly). it was my first pregnancy. it hurt for a few hours, after that not any worse than severe menstrual cramping for me. they gave me pain killers that i did not take after the first day (i'm saving them for when i get my period again). i was in work the next day and in class two days later. i bled off an on for almost two weeks. but everyone is different.

When I had my D&C done that afternoon it just felt like I had cramping in my lower belly for about 2 days and after that I felt fine I still have some discharge but it has only been a little over three weeks since my D&C. My doctor said I could start having sex after 6 weeks and start trying again after 3 months. Some people actually say that you become more fertile after a D&C or a miscarriage, now if that has any truth to it I am not sure but just know that if you need to vent or if you have anymore questions we are all here for you.

i've also heard that you are more fertile. where that originated, i don't know, and i don't know if it's true.

my doctor said we could resume sexual activity as soon as I quit bleeding, which took two weeks. it's realy different for every person. hopefully you won't have to go through it, though. if you trust your doctor, just do what he says. mine is wonderful - my ob did my surgery and i trust him a lot.

I spotted and eventually had a miscarriage one time--it took about a week for things to really "get started" and finally started cramping and passing clots. It was a long process, bleeding a bit every day until finally it "all came out". So, you could spot for a while.

I have also had a miscarriage. Looking back I'm glad I had the time between finding out the baby was no longer viable and the end of the process. It gave me time to grieve and say goodbye to my baby. Even then I was not prepared for how much sadness I would go through as the shock of losing the baby wore off. my heart is with you.
