View Full Version : Possible Diagnosis

Hi everyone,
I went to my rheumatologist yesterday. He said that he didn't like the word fibromyalgia because he felt it was an umbrella for so many conditions. He wants me to focus on what he thinks we can work on together. I have costrochondritis which is why I went to him in the first place. I seem to have a number of the symptoms of Fibro, but on such a milder scale than many here in this forum.
I know he didn't really say I have fibro, but I'm taking it like he did. I feel I can now stop agonizing and analyzing every ache and pain and start working on feeling better. I'm walking fifteen minutes a day-doesn't seem like much, but boy am I tired after that. I'm also starting a Yoga for Fibromyalgia class in a week. I'm hoping that will help a lot. My doctor increased the dosage of Amitriptyline I'm taking from 10 mg to 20mg. I'll start that tonight. Maybe that will help me sleep better-I think I'm getting a better sleep, but I'm still tired (too much).
It's been so long since I've been pain free, I don't think I know what it felt like.
Anyway, I'm hoping to start feeling better.

"Talk" to you all later,

KarenMA :)

Karen,
I think your doc is right when he says that Fibro is an umbrella for other conditions. It sounds like he's taking a good approach. Pain, constant pain, really wears you down. I really hope you start to feel better soon!
