HI
MY ps Doc just gave me Risperdal to try for anxiety and panic. I already take paxil and klonopin. Has anyone tried this med? Any success? What was your dosage? Side effects?
I would appreciate any feedback before I give this body ANOTHER drug!

Resperidol is an anti-psychotic drug which happens to have ALOT of side effects. Personally I hate this drug and have only seen it work well on violent Alzheimers patients, probably because the benefits truly outweigh the side effects in that instance. It will make you extremely drowsy......
I would not take it.
I refuse to take this med because of the extreme weight gain.

sounds like the paxil isnt working, up the dose if OK or swap to another antidepressant, the klonapin dose seems to be too low also, remember klonapin tablets are deactivated by hot storage, eg in a car glovebox
risperdal is as mentioned, an antipsychotic and is used by some docs in small doses for panic, but others say its unsuitable and wont use it at all, it doesnt cause weight gain
a group of australian psychiatrists recently reviewed anxiety and panic meds and said antipsychotic meds were of no benefit

My son took Risperdol for two years due to Bi-Polar. He gained almost 50 lbs. on it and his face got real puffy. I would ask the doc for something else for anxiety

risperdal is an antipsychotic and meant for schizophrenia. Unless you have lots of hallucinations from your anxiety/depression (psychotic depression) I'd try some other things before going on risperdal.

Risperdal may not cause weight gain for some people but it did for me. I took it two different times and it caused weight gain both times. I am desperately trying to lose the weight now from the last time I took it. I will NOT let them talk me into taking it again.

Risperdal is a heavy duty med, I'd stay away from it if i were you
I've seen several children with autism on it, but they have severe aggressive, destructive, and self-injurious behaviors. Good luck

my 7yr old son takes this drug for tourettes and I absolutely hate it. It causes him to be extremely tired and very loopy. And I took klonopen when i had to have an MRI and I honestly dont know how you could function on that drug during the day! Good luck to you
