I had my wisdom teeth removed 3 weeks ago. Everything went fine. This past Tuesday, 4 days ago I had to have one of my gums opened back up. I asked the doctor if I have to take the same precautions (i.e. no smoking, straw, etc.) and his only response was it should be fine. I called back to get clarification and the nurse told me all the same precautions should be taken. So, I'm at day 4 after the re-opening. Would you think I am good to go or do you think I have to worry about dry socket again. I can't seem to get a clear answer from my OS. He gave me no instruction whatsoever and that night I had a Pepsi and then the next day when I call, she tells me the blood clot has to form again etc. I'm confused.

A few days has passed since you posted this but I had mine all out 2 years ago at the age of 29 and I think after 48 hours I could do as my mouth or gums would tolerate. Hope things have healed for you. I couldn't imagine having to have the gums opened again.. Ouch!
