I'm 60 and have neurophy. I told my doctor about how bad my leg hurt when I walked any distance. I asked him if it could be the neuropthy and he sent me for a dopler test. It came back OK. He's just a general doctor. Should I be seeing another doctor for that? Is there any place I can get information about all the symptoms? I do take neurotin for this 600 MG 3 time a day. He told me that was the maximun I could take a day. It seems to help with the numbness and aching except when I walk very much at all. Thanks for any help you can give me. :) .

I too have neuropathy and have had it since 1998. I started with Lipitor and has continued even tho I took myself off it at that time. Have met many people that have statin syndrome. Did you take one?

Neurontin did little for me. I still take 400mg. at night with a hydroco/apap. No sleep without them. For daytime I take CoQ10 which can be bought at Walmart or any vitamin store. Lots of people have had good results with this. 100-200mg. daily should do it.

Here are two links that you can check out. Just click on different ones for more information. Hope it helps. As for going to another doctor, I don't know. Since 1998 I have seen over 25 and I am still no better except finally getting a good pain specialist who really understood about neuropathy. Most don't and everyone wanted me to take that neurontin.

Hello Simmons

I am not in the medical profession so this is strictly my "OWN" opinion but to be formally diagnosed with Neuropathy you should definately see a neurologist and have an EMG nerve conduction study done on your lower extremities. I have had 3 and they are really not that big of a deal. You need to know what type of neuropathy you have.

I also take Neurontin and I am up to 600mg 3 x day at even intervals which is still considered a low to moderate dose. From what my specialists tell me the upper limits are 3000 mg per day but I dont want to get to that dose.

I am a female 49 years old and have SLE (Lupus) which effected my CNS and I develpoped peripheral neuropathy......I lived in H*** for 3 years before being DX with it and getting relief from the neurontin.

I hope this somewhat helps.

;) Thank you both so very much. I got to the regular doctor the 7th of April. I will tell him then that I need to see another doctor. The site you sent were very helpful. I'll let you know what happens.
Again Thanks,
Billie
