I started spotting yesterday. Went to the OB who did a sonogram & a pelvic. They found the yolk sac (5 1/2 weeks along) exactly where it was supposed to be in the uterus and also found that my cervix was closed. All good news. Unfortunately, I had started to bleed by this time. My doctor gave me 50/50 odds on the pregnancy being able to continue. I am supposed to follow up with him next Friday, but I think i'll go back in on Monday. I'm pretty positive I miscarried last night. I started bleeding heavier (I had to use 2 pads) and had terrible cramps. At times I thought I was going to vomit it hurt so bad. I'm still cramping, but it has slacked a whole lot... it just feels like I'm on my period now.
I hate to ask for anyone to share their miscariage story, but does what i went through sound like one? I hate having to wait until Monday... it seems so long... and I'm sure the ER would either turn me away or make me wait 6 hours. I'm quiet realistic. I've never heard anyone say they have bled as much I am bleeding and then carry a baby to term.
Thanks for listening and thanks in advance for any responses

I think you should go to the ER anyway. They won't turn you away.
I don't want to say for sure that you did miscarry, but what you discribed sounds like you did.
I am very sorry.

Its really hard to say rather or not you miscarried for sure...Have you passed any tissue like stuff or rather larger blood clots?...that doesn't always mean you had one either but chacnes are you did if you've passed anything like that! Keeps us posted...best wishes to you and your family! We all here know what its like to miscarry!

Please let us know
i had a DNC for my miscarriage, so never passed anything like that
but my sister-in-law said passing a miscarriage (she's had two) feels like a mini-labor - quite painful
please keep us posted

Thank you all for your insight and replies.
At this point I am very frustrated. I called my OB today to try and get worked in and his nurse said I needed to get my HCG levels checked. Too bad I didn't stick to my guns and demand to be seen. Sometimes I'm such a wus. So, I went to the lab and had my blood drawn and I go back on Wednesday again. I should know something Wednesday afternoon, but it will be Friday before I get a sonogram and see if there is anything left inside.
I know it sounds terrible to talk like it's a terminated pregnancy when I don't know 100% for sure. I feel so certain that the pain & bleeding on Friday night HAD to have been a miscarriage. Besides, it's almost too painful to hope at this point.

i'm so sorry. i feel for you. I really do.
but maybe it's a good sign, they took your hcg levels and then decided to wait till wednesday to have you go in. if the levels were lower wouldn't they have tried to get you in sooner?

My doctor was able to see me yesterday. We did an u/s and there was nothing in my uterus. I was prepared for this as I knew on Friday that I was no longer pregnant... I *felt* it. The good news is he doesn't feel that I need a D&C. He did give me methergrine, but I dont' think I'm going to take it as I've stopped bleeding & the u/s tech said she didn't see anything in my uterus. I've had high blood pressure issues in the past and I just don't think the benefits outweigh the risks. If anyone has any insight on methergrine, I would appreciate it.
Thank you all

I am sorry for your loss. I pretty much knew when we went in for my u/s too, but it was still so hard on me. I was so nervous to have it, praying that the baby would be okay but so scared that it wasn't. i wanted so badly for everything to be find. it was so hard on me and dh.
as for methergine, i have no insights. I've never heard of it. but if you're completely cleaned out inside, i wouldn't worry about it.
good luck.

My heart aches for you! I'm so sorry!
I wanted to let you know that the methergine helps clamp the uterus down to control any excessive bleeding. If you are not having heavy bleeding you most likely won't need it (heavy meaning soaking one pad per hour for at least two hours in a row).
I'll be thinking of you!
Love and Prayers, Kelly

Weepyone, i want you to know that i had bleeing and cramping at 5 weeks and thoughyt for sure that i was having a miscarriage. I was heartbrokedn too. When i went for the u/c they saw a yolk sac and a heartbeat and i was shocked. They did however find a cyst which they think caused the bleeding. I am now in my 22nd week and since that incident every thing has been fine. Pleas ekeep me informed of how you make out.

You are in a really horrible spot. I have been in your situation more times than I care to think about. I don't know if this will help or not, but with my son I bled and cramped severely...so much so that I had to have multiple blood transfusions. He was born prematurely, but he is a healthy, happy 3 1/2 year-old today. You are being realistic in that things may have already ended...but then again, it does happen that there is bleeding and cramping and a baby at the end.
I am certainly thinking of you and hoping for the best.
Much love,
Michaela

I am very new to message boards. About a week ago I was bleeding just a very small amount. First pregnancy for me. I called the Dr. and got an ultrasound. They said the fetus was nearly 6 gestational weeks. My Dr. said I had a 50/50 chance of miscarriage and arranged for blood tests for hormone levels the following days. That night I really began to bleed. I had incredible abdominal pain. I began to pass very large chunks that appeared to be tissue or lining and also clots. I called my Dr. after several hours of this b/c the pain was so intense I thought I was going to pass out. I went to the emergency room and basically writhed in pain for 4 hours before they would see me. By this time I could watch the clock and know when the pain was coming. It was just horrific. I ended up getting an ultrasound and they said it was an incomplete miscarriage and that there was still tissue, clots etc in the lower part of my uterus. The whole experience was just so awful. I was bleeding thru my clothes, then I was laying in a big puddle of blood for 6 hours once they actually saw me and started with the tests. And I had to have a bladder catheter. And to be honest, I knew I was having a miscarriage, I just wanted something for the pain. I've never had a painkiller in my life but I was desperate. I've also never been to the ER. The ER dr. called my Dr and she said to send me home with a presecription for methergine. She specifically told the ER Dr not to prescribe any pain meds. I was upset but didn't realize how mean this was until two days later when these mean little pills basically caused me to go into labor again, passing some very scary things, alot of blood and I ended up at a local stat care where they shot me up with demoral (thank god) and called an ambulance. Another ER Dr. talks to her and she says to take motrin. This all happened over a weekend. I had an appt for Tues. I call my Dr's office on Monday and they call back and tell me they cancelled my appt and they don't need to see me for 2 weeks. It's a week later, I finished the methergine 4 days ago and I'm still bleeding but thankfully the cramping seems to have stopped. The whole experience has left me exhausted and angry. I'm switching doctors. That's about all I can say. I wish I would have gotten a D&C.
