Hi.

I'm very interested in removing the hair above my upper lip (tired of bleaching) and my bikini line (tired of bumps and ingrown hairs) via the laser. I'd like to hear about some good experiences from everyone, since it sounds like the perfect treatment for me.

Thanks!

Hello!

i've done laser hair removal and its great! i did my legs, underarms and bikini. only negative is the price. in order to completely remove the hair, you will need to do between 6 and 10 sessions depending on your skin type and how coarse your hair is....it cost me $300 per session....and do not go anywhere but a dermatologist! otherwise, going to a salon, spa, etc, you are risking getting burned...i got minor burn on my leg because the nurse set the laser tool too high....

one other thing...there are certain parts of your body that you cannot get laser done because of either the sensitivity or risk....such as eyebrows, etc...i think that the upper lip is one of them....go for a consultation and they will let you know....

The key to laser hair removal being successful is determined by the training of the person holding the laser. Very few dermatologists received true laser training. Workshops and in house training sessions are a joke. 30 hours minimun training at a true laser school is crucial.

The upper lip is fine to treat with laser. It is sensitive, but because it is such a small area, it's less than a minute of discomfort.

Above and between brows can be treated. Because of the risk of eye damage, below the brow is not recommended with laser. Electrolysis can take care of that.

I just had my first treatment (upper lip & bikini) a couple of weeks ago and have noticed a difference already. It hurts like getting waxed, but my pain tollerance is high since I've been waxing for several years. I wish the treatments were every week, but you have to wait for the new hair to grow. I was told it would take about 8 treatments, but she is working with me on the price since I'm doing 2 areas at once. Plus her policy is 2 treatments at full price, the 3rd is 25% off and the 4th and after is half price. I go to a Plastic Surgeons office and she definitely knows how to work the laser without burning me. I received a free consultation before we started. She even zapped me in a couple of areas to see if I was ok. I'd definitely recommend shopping around and being careful who you go with.

I been going to a upscale laser center to do bikini line. I never have been burned. Most of the laser technicians are nurses and I check they are certified in the laser they are going to use. I don't know if dermatologist office do full brazilian I mean all of the hair down including like perianal hair and such. Two things, it is pricey and it is painful but absolutetly worth it

ladivapr02...can I ask how many sessions you've had & about how many you will need? I'm thinking I won't need 8, but I know everyone's different. Thanks!

I have had LHR done on my chin (twice), upper lip and sideburns (once) done with a Candela GentleYag Laser, set at 30 joules, and I am seeing fine results. I had chin hair that was every bit as coarse, thick and black as a man, and I used to have to shave is at least once a day, sometimes more, and it still showed, even under caked on concealer. Now, 90% of my hair is gone! Once the hair shed the first time it never grew back. I don't even really have to shave anymore. I still have 3 chin treatments left to go. My chin package 5 treatments $325, lip $75 and sideburns $25, (my laser tech gave me a deal on this since I only had a few strays, and I was having 2 other areas done at the same time). I don't know her qualifications, but she sure does know what she's doing in my opinion. Best money I ever spent in my life! :-)

I have had 5 sessions. I think I need about 2-3 more. But I really had a lot of hair to remove so that is okay. If it were only two inches of bikini hair I would already be done. I'm going to do all sessions that are necessary.

I must be doing well. I've had only 1 session (going for #2 this week) and my bikini line hasn't come back. Weird! But nice!

I pay as I go, so I didn't buy a package and I'll have to get the lady's opinion on how many more. She called to confirm my appt and I told her that once she zapped me the bikini line growth fell out in a couple of days and hasn't come back. She said that was good. This no more waxing is so nice. Except my wax lady won't appreciate it. oh well....good luck with your sessions!

lol yeah your wax lady must be sad for loosing the business with you. Isn't that nice to not see the hair come back?

To get laser hair removal done do you have to first let the hair grow out? Like not shave or anything for a certain amount of time before you get it done? What about after you get it done? Because there is no way that I could let the hair grow out!

One more thing. I've heard that laser hair removal doesn't work for people who have blonde or light hair because it only targets dark hairs. Is this true?

I wasn't told to let the hair grow out, but to stop waxing and shave the area that I wanted treated. Or instead of shaving I was told I could also use the hair remover creams. I shaved because the creams irritate my skin. You don't want to go with any hair grown out because when the laser hits the area it fries the hair from the root up. So, the longer the hair, the more it will hurt! After the treatment just continue to shave the area when needed. My first treatment went well. 2 weeks after the first treatment (keep in mind that you will probably go 4-5 weeks in between treatments) the hair must have just fallen out because when I got in the shower to shave, there wasn't anything to shave. So, for my 2nd treatment, the lady who does it was amazed at the results. She still treated the area again and will continue to treat it for a couple of more treatments just to make sure. Not sure about your question for blonde or light hair. But if you decide to to it, make sure whoever does it is certified and knows what they are doing. Mine works in a plastic surgeons office and is certified as well as a skin care specialist (can't think of the appropriate title...starts with an "A"). Good luck! I sooooo recommend it if you can afford it. And in the long run, if you are already waxing, do the math...just add up the cost of a bikini or where ever you are getting waxed and how often you do it for 10 years. That's more than the laser treatment!

I like it so far I have been in for two treatments. It hurts and is expensive but well worth it. I think I pay more than other poeple on here my armpits for 3 treatments is $600 and I got my lip half off and that was 270 but I paid $135 because of the half off. She only gives half off one time. Anyway I'm very hairy and so far it has worked great. My hormones are a little off so I don't know if it will work as good for me as for other poeple.
