There are at least two problems with sleeping in bed. First of all, your body's circadian rhythm kicks in, big time, at night, and pours hormones into your body, which could effect your heart.
Secondly, the bed is the worst place for people with allergies. When you lie in bed, your allergies kick in, and additional chemicals (hormones) are poured into your blood stream, which also can have an effect on your heart.
Do you also wake up in the middle of the night with heart palpitations, or a fast heart beat, or any other type of misfiring?

mostly chest pain on the left a couple times, and a couple times woke up feeling very confused. im thinking it may be sleep apnea as well, but the chest pain concerned me. i guess sleep apnea could cause heart difficulties as well tho.

Very interesting question. This happenes to me. I start falling asleep only to wake suddenly with a fast heart rate and some SOB. I have wondered what this means? Sleep Apnea?

Do you have the same problems if you fall asleep on your back? How about on your left side? Right side?
How about if you lie in bed, without falling asleep? If you just lie there, awake, for a while, does your heart start to jump around? Do you get shortness of breath?
