I have had this problem for about 4 years. I am 54 years old. My last real period was almost two years ago.
.This is how I feel on a bad day:
The left side of my brain feels like it has been stuffed with cotton.
I feel depressed
I would prefer to be alone if I could
Its hard for me to talk
It is hard for me to smile
It is hard for me to think
I have little ambition to do anything
Everything I do takes real effort
I screw up a lot at work
Then, chances are, the next day, I am a totally different person. I am basically my normal self with energy, enthusiasm, and sharp as a tack. Im finding lately that Im starting to feel depressed on my good days because I know it wont last.
I've been seeing an alternative medical doctor, and I'm feeling somewhat better. Has anyone gone through this? I've had an MRI and my sinuses checked and eveything came out negative.

My mom has a lot of problems with her left side. She said sometimes it feels like someone just smacked her in her head. All tests she has had has come out ok.

Thanks for taking the time to write me. I guess I'm not alone.

Hi, it's been 3 years since my last period and I too get occassional brain fog. (feels like one side of the head or ear is stuffed or tied up with something) Lately, for whatever reason it's been hanging on for the last two weeks. Usually it doesn't last this long. I feel depressed on many days, anxious and out of control, weepy, sensitive, no motivation to do much of anything. I am also finding I am over reacting to little things. I do little smiling these days. The strange thing is, I was okay for a couple of years so I thought that that was the worst of menopause and everything was settled down. Now, I'm wondering all over again. I'm not getting much support because a lot of meno discussions are foccused on peri-meno and not post meno. So here I am, thinking I'm going out of my mind or that there is something really wrong with me. I understand how you feel because I know what you are going through. Hope you feel better real soon.

You and I sound similar. I'm going to an alternative md and I'm on bioidentical hormones and a number of other amino acids and antioxidents, and the feeling in my head doesn't seem to be as bad. I can tell you more if you are interested. Thanks alot for writing.
