View Full Version : I want to highlight my hair but....

I have colored my hair four times in the last four months. Does anyone know if I could still have highlights done professionally or should I just let it grow out? The latter would take at least a couple of years, and I don't want to wait that long. Anyone know how I could remove the color? My hair is in really good condition. Hardly any split-ends and no breakage. Would bleaching be an option?

Any advice would be appreciated

Are the colors you put on your permanant? If so you'll have a real build up of color on your hair and highlights might not take very well. If the colors were semi-perm. they will gradually fade away (the average semi-perm will take about 4 weeks to fade completely). Depending on the colors you used and the kind of highlights you want going to a professional and getting the colors stripped might be a good idea. A friend of mine had to do that because she has very long hair and growing the color out would have taken too long.

It's great that your hair is in good condition but my advice would be to see a styist. He/She will be able to give you a definitive answer. :)

Best of luck to you!

I have only used permanant colors... I know that is bad, but in my experience even permanant color fades a lot after a while.. maybe because I have well water.. I don't know. Anyway I will be going to a professional to talk about my options before I do anything or have anything done. I have put my hair through some crazy sh** and it has never broke off or fallen out. The worst thing I ever did was use sun-in and that fried my hair, but did not break it off, it was just extremely dry for a very long time, but that was years ago.

Thanks for the advice:)
