Thanks so much for this wonderful forum. I was just recently dignosed with fibro, myofacial pain syndrome and on top of that I have migraines. Daily life can be hard to get through some days for the pain and only sleeping about 3 hours a night. (and not good sleep) After reading a lot of posts it seems as though there as so many things that go along with this (these) affliction(s).
Don't you sometimes just wonder what causes it all? Thanks again and better days to you all.

Thanks Robin for the welcome. I was just dx'd about 2 months ago although have been suffering for about 3 years. You know doctors.....there is nothing wrong....or it's HORMONAL ( I love that one)

I have 2 kids although they are a lot older than yours (my grandbabies are the age of your kids) :)

I went to a pain specialist who couldn't figure out why I was not dx'd before this. He made me feel so good...as in I'm not totally off my rocker.

Before this I was a multi-tasker....now I'm lucky if I can get 1 thing done. I haven't worked in almost 3 years. The fibro-fog, pain, anxiety, among other things prevent me from doing much.

Thanks again and can't wait to get to know more ppl.

hey vicki, you know this fibro fog sure has been getting me bad lately. i keep putting things where they don't belong and getting things out like the ironing board for no reason. isn't that halarious. lol. my kids think its great entertainment.

gosh i think i had fibro for about 3yrs before it was even dx'd. but like you as soon as i did i felt like it wasn't all in my head. it felt good to have a name to everything i am experiencing.

have a great evening,
robin

Hi, just wanted to welcome you, glad you found us. I have Fm for 21 years and it keeps getting worse. I also have MPs and costochrondritis, gee, so much fun.

I am also from Pa. and sleepless. I fall asleep with no trouble but keep waking up all night, get up in the AM and wonder if I slept at all.

Hugs back Linda and fellow pa'er. Yep...sleep is such an issue. I take 50mg. of benadryl about an hour before bedtime. (a docto said it was safe and I have a post nasal drip thing anyhow) It does allow me to sleep about 2 hours and then....well....sheeeeesh.

I know we all have days when we just want to feel "better". On those days I feel more human I am in such a good mood. On the others...the worse ones...WATCH OUT...I may bite your head off..if I can remember where it's at.

Anyhow....hagd to all....hugs

dear vickie,
ask your doctor about ambien. i have been taking it along with benadryl at bedtime for about 4 years. i sleep every night. there are always going to be nights when nothing works, i accept that. with ambien i sleep at least 6 hours and mostly wake up feeling like i actually was asleep. i had gone 5 years with no more than 45 minutes of sustained sleep at a time. i was a vegetable.
i still have the fog. nothing like it was when i was not sleeping.
i did find the night to be a wonderful time to be the only one awake. well, except for the night i met a baby skunk on my patio. i had no idea i could run that fast!
peace,
bluelakelady

hi bluelady,

Yes...I am going to my doctor today and will ask him. It's so weird how this works...on good days the fog is not bad...but then on bad days it's not either...good days...bad...bad days good. It's sooooooo confusing at times. And yes...I can relate about the nightime...or very early morning. It's so peaceful and I can also get things done that I have wanted to do.

Good luck to all...

:) Hi Bluelakelady,

Thanks for asking. It did not go well. He feels I may have a GH deficiency, messed up thyroid and low mag levels. A degenerative bone factor in my back doesn't help either. To quote my doc "you are a very complex and complicated case". Well.....geee thanks.

So he won't do anything much until my blood tests come back.
Today is not a good day. My lower back is swollen so bad my right leg feels like a club and hurts like.....well you know.

Hope E1 out there is having a good day. Even tho I hurt I TRY to keep a positive outlook.

HAGD, take care and Peace.

vicki i am so sorry that you feel so bad today. i know what is like to be a case like your doc said you were. i have already been sent to another pain mangt. doc because the other one could not do anything for me, whatever huh?
i tried to do a little cleaning yesterday and afterward my hip hurt and spasms in my back like crazy.
it is so hard to do anything these days.
i try a be positive but sometimes it is so hard especially when i look around and see such a mess everywhere.
i might just spend sometime outside, today is really nice here in austin, texas.
let the kids make a mess outside, maybe that will make me feel better mentally a least.

hope you get to feeling better :)

Hi, I'm new here but have been reading this site for a long time. I'll apologize in advance if I commit protocol errors. I'm not very computer savvy! I first want to thank everyone for the great input on this illness. Wanted to ask Bll if the Benedryl she takes with her Ambien is otc. I love my Ambien but was a little afraid of Benedryl with it. Thanks for you help.
