View Full Version : My strange problem, sticky feeling; left side of face and perception oddities??

Back in mid 2002 I had a series of really bad allergy attacks and shortly after I felt like I had fatigue and the left eye suddenly felt strange *perhaps even a bit weak* for instance, when I shut my right eye and try to keep my left eye open by itself it now always struggles and cannot open fully and comfortably yet when I do the same thing with the other eye it's feels easy and comfortable to open properly.

Over the last few years I've seen all sorts of doctors and eye specialists and have tried every spray, drop and tablet thinking that my hayfevers had done something to my eye(s) but after having 2 different eye specialists check my eyes and find nothing wrong and nothing stuck under the lids I began growing extremely exasperated.

Recently I thought that perhaps in mid 2002 I had damaged facial nerves and/or muscles as for quite a while now I feel a strain in the left side of my neck and on the left side of my face it feels like theres a, sporadic, strain and sticky feeling *the skin doesn't actually feel sticky but I have that feeling within the skin* so I was thinking, since no one has found anything wrong with my eye, if that could be the problem?

Alternatively, over the past fwe years I've felt that my left ear has been deteriorating by becoming too thin and overly flexible *most likely attributed to my bad habit of playing with that left ear* and sometimes the left ear feels pretty sticky so perhaps that feeling spread onto the left side of the face which encompasses the left eye which would be responsible for the sporadic sticky and sometimes strain like feeling i have on the left side of the face and neck...

The one symptom that really bothers me is how because of this *whatever it is* since mid 2002 or so I've always perceived the 2 sides of my nose as being 'separate and transparent' with the left side of that 'transparent nose' being more notable than the other side *strange indeed* perhaps because of the left side of the face, or part of it, feeling particulary sticky????

I'm extremely anxious to clear this up as it's made me very depressed and frustrated for more than 2 years now.

P.S. I'm seeing a neurologist in early June *up till now I've just seen GP's, eye specialists and even nose specialists* and I really hope to be able to have a resolution to this problem after my June appointment.

Thankyou.

Hi Jerry, I can fully understand where you are coming from on this. I too have been having odd eye symptoms for the past 2.5 years. All in my right eye, swollen eyelid, pupil that does not do anything at all, dark blurry vision, pain in the sinus area. When I press my eyelid feels like something wants to come down my nose.
had orbital ct scan, came back clear. so was discharged from hospital here in UK and basically told to get on with it. Have also been told to walk around for the rest of my days with my bad eye shut.
Have numb feeling around side of head above right ear, and also tinnitus, like you I am very depressed and frustrated as no one seems to want to hear or believe that something it wrong.
I wish you luck my friend.

Yes I can fully relate to that feeling too, I describe it as washing with soap but not washing it off properly, but its not on the skin surface the feeeling is on the inside of the face. Mine is around my eye and eyelid.
Is your vision affected too? My right eye seems to be looking at my nose even though its straight and vision is very bad.

Be interesting to know if sinus or anything can cause this.
