I have a question...does being overweight make a MAJOR difference with asthma? I am way above my weight that I should be and I've read different opinions on the whole obesity/asthma thing. One article said that it doesn't make that much difference and another says that losing weight will help the asthma. I have been on Weight Watchers before and it seemed that when I did lose weight, it helped...but within the last couple of months, I've put back a good amount of the weight that I lost. What's everyone elses opinion? thanks! :wave:

I think weight gain affects asthma negatively.
Weight gain generally causes loss of breath. This happens particularly if one's airway condition isn't good. Also steroid medications often increase weight.
Fred Pescatore's 'The Allergy and Asthma Cure' might help. This book devotes one chapter to weight loss diet program. I've not read the chapter but I'm sure the book is helpful for those who's interested in nutritional approach to asthma.

My asthma doctor said it definitely would help my asthma. In fact, I am overweight with asthma, allergies, acid reflux, high blood pressure - and she went so far to say that losing weight would either cure me or relieve most symptoms of ... all of these.

Both overweight and asthma can be the result of MSG.

The FDA admits that MSG has been proven to induce asthma attacks in certain individuals.
Asthma deaths have increased with the increased use of MSG in the US food supply.

Do some research on MSG and Asthma.
There is also a connection to obesity. Obesity has increased to epidemic levels in the US in children since the introduction of MSG into the American diet.

Read and learn.
