Hello All,
I was recently diagnosed with Atypical Facial Pain, and take 300mg of Tegretol twice a day. It seems to be working and keeping the pain at bay. Now I just have a tingly feeling in that area instead, much better.
My question is this, did it cause you to have fatigue, dizziness and nausea? And if so did that get better and how long did it take? While I am pain free it is still consuming a good deal of my day and making me less functional due to the other symptoms. Also I have had some cognitive problems for awhile, but this seems to be making them worse. Thanks, K9

I too have been diagnosed with atypical facial pain. I have been using Neurontin for several years but am not getting enough pain relief. My pain doc did not want to give me Tegretol because of the side effects. She preferred Trileptal. You might want to check into this. She now wants me to try Cymbalta for the pain. There are many drugs out there. Unfortunately they all have side effects. Keep trying until you find one that works for you.

I tried Tegretol at three different times. All three times I had to stop after a week because it sent me into a crippling depression. I then tried Trileptal for a week, and the same thing happened. I couldn't stop crying.
