I was born with a CHD and went all through school with the limits on what I was or wasn't allowed to do, the routine physicals as well as about a thousand other trips to drs., etc. What never occurred to me then was that so many of my classmates likely had undetected heart problems. I have watched with increasing shock over the past several years as the number of student athletes dying suddenly from undiagnosed heart conditions has made the news more and more. I cannot stress enough the importance of thorough annual physicals, especially for student athletes, NOT just the cursory physical exam given to approve a student for school athletics. What do you all think of this?
